Bug Me Knot™ The Patent-Pending Wine Aerator for use in Homes- wineries - restAurants - bars

Why We Created Bug Me Knot

It is well recognized that exposure of wine to ambient air enhances its aromatic and flavor profiles. However, wine enthusiasts face a persistent challenge that degrades the experience and poses potential health hazards: contamination by fruit flies during the aeration process. Conventional wine aerators and open bottle service methods expose the wine surface to airborne contaminants, including small insects such as fruit flies, which are particularly attracted to ethanol and fermentation byproducts.

Fruit flies are known carriers of bacteria and can deposit pheromones and other undesirable compounds into wine upon contact, resulting in unpleasant odors and potential health concerns. As such, prevention of contamination is a continuous and ongoing need.

Existing solutions in the prior art have focused either on passive aeration devices or on physical barriers to contamination, but rarely both in a manner that is simple, intuitive, and compatible with standard bottle geometries. Caps, stoppers, or lids used to prevent contamination often impede airflow and compromise the aeration process, while mesh coverings are generally not integrated into the structure of the aerator or are cumbersome to apply.
Therefore, a need exists for a low-cost, user-friendly device that enables wine to aerate naturally while simultaneously preventing access by airborne pests.

That’s exactly why we created Bug Me Knot™

Born from frustration and refined through design, our solution bridges that gap — providing both elegant aeration and practical protection. With our patent-pending aerator, wine lovers can finally enjoy their favorite bottle without compromise. No fruit flies. No wasted pours. Just pure wine, the way it was meant to be enjoyed.
